Behind the exhibition
After the Show
Wesleyan University, previously a school without any ceramics facilities, saw the huge interest in ceramics and acquired the funding to purchase a Skutt Kiln in October of 2024, 5 months after my graduation. Thanks to the generosity of Wesleyan University’s Studio Art department, “Distortion, Unfired” got fired in November 19th, 2024, successfully completing the inaugural firing of Wesleyan University’s first kiln since 1996. The story goes that Wesleyan students used to operation a small ceramics studio located in South Studio, which was shut down due to heavy metal contamination.
Although some lost their ability to stand on their own during the firing, the rest of my thesis sculptures are now available for purchase.
I am very excited to find these sculptures loving homes
